Aniruddha Sengupta has written about classical and folk music in Bengal for nearly two decades. A trained tabla player who quietly gave up performing for criticism, he edits তরঙ্গ's music coverage and hosts তরঙ্গ Radio, the magazine's fortnightly conversation with the artists shaping contemporary Bengali culture. He lives in Dhaka and believes, against all evidence, that the alap is making a comeback.
